YOUR IMAGINATION REDEEMED
When you read a book that stirs your spirit and captures your imagination, what is it in that tale that makes you feel so awakened and alive?
It is an echo; a reminder of who we are. The redeemed imagination allows the believer to see the world, and his own life, through divine eyes. To play a role in the building of a Kingdom (in the already and the not yet) whose glory we can scarcely comprehend.
For nearly two thousand years, the church held that the good, the true, and the beautiful were inseparable. But somewhere along the line, they got fragmented. And the result has been a disenchanted Christianity; a slew of vapid books, music, and movies; and generations of Christians missing out on the redeemed imagination.
The disenchanted, the lost, and the Church itself need a renaissance of the Christian imagination.
Your Imagination Redeemed is the annual conference of the Anselm Society. From Friday night through Saturday night, April 27-28, we will explore the redeemed imagination, meet the sacred on its own terms, and carry its light back into our own lives..
For artists: This will be an imaginative retreat, with food for your soul. Breakout sessions and workshops will focus on inspiring and refreshing you, and helping you to better integrate your imagination and your faith so as to inflame your art and its impact.
For everyone: You will take a sweeping journey through the best stories, songs, and art, and find it drawn back with you into the rest of your life, as the mundane is re-enchanted, and you are awakened not only to the reality to come but to this world and its expectant glory.
The conference will follow a Friday night through Saturday night format, including lectures, workshops and breakouts, music and stories, and much more.
Dr. Anthony Esolen is a writer, social commentator, translator of classical poetry, and professor of English Renaissance and classical literature at the Thomas More College of Liberal Arts. Notably, he is a celebrated translator of Dante's Divine Comedy, and the author of several of our favorite books, including Ten Ways to Destroy the Imagination of Your Child and Ironies of Faith: The Laughter at the Heart of Christian Literature. We have wanted to bring Dr. Esolen out to spend time with us for years, and this year it worked out!
The Rt. Rev. Martyn Minns is an English-born American bishop who has long been a prominent voice for truth and beauty within the Anglican communion. Prior to becoming a bishop, he served as rector of Truro Church in Fairfax, Virginia; and All Angels Church in New York City, where he worked with a heavily artistic congregation to shape and direct creative gifts to the glory of God. We are honored to have Bishop Minns' articulate voice leading our conversation about the role of the church in redeeming the imagination.

Frequently asked questions...please check here before emailing us; it might save us both some time!
IDEAS FOR DINNER DOWNTOWN?
We've created a Google Map with some of our favorite spots here (check our notes; we've indicated which places are friendliest to special diets). We've also included parking information in the map description. You can use the Facebook event to coordinate your dinner plans with people, or go with one of our Anselm staff-led groups.
CAN I BUY A TICKET FOR JUST a portion of the weekend
Not at the moment. A few day passes may become available in April, but no promises! Last year we sold out with a huge waiting list.
I'M AN INTROVERT, SO I SHOULD PROBABLY TALK MYSELF OUT OF GOING BECAUSE IT'S LESS DAUNTING, RIGHT?
That depends. Do you like sitting quietly and listening to awesome people inspire you with no pressure to talk back (i.e. lectures)? Do you like really good coffee, food, and other drinks? Do you appreciate gorgeous views of either skylines or mountains? And (the kicker) do you like the idea of having this room furnished with tables and cushy armchairs, designated as a Quiet Room and available for retreat all day?
In short: we take hospitality seriously. We'll take good care of you. We even have some Anselm staff-led groups going to dinner, so there's no chance of you feeling left out there. Also most of our speakers are introverts and they are coming. Don't be silly. You should come.
WHAT'S THE PARKING SITUATION?
The Pinery's lot has 150 parking spaces; if you are coming with other family members or friends, we encourage you to carpool.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE TICKET PRICE?
The conference ticket price provides you with access to the entire event, including your choice of workshops (first-come, first-served). Breakfast pastries, lunch, and afternoon snacks are included; as are water, coffee, and tea all day. Cocktail hour will feature a cash bar. Dinner is NOT included in the ticket price, because we have too much fun breaking up into smaller groups to enjoy the many wonderful restaurants downtown. This will be a chance to take a break from the space, experience downtown Colorado Springs, and enjoy excellent food in a more intimate setting with friends. (We will have a few Anselm staff-led groups in case you haven't brought or made any bosom friends!)
I HAVE SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS. CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE THEM?
There will be gluten free, dairy free, and vegan options at lunch. As for dinner, we will give you advance info about the best restaurants for special diets...but downtown Colorado Springs is a national leader on that front so you shouldn't have a problem.
I'M COMING FROM OUT OF TOWN. WHAT HOTELS DO YOU RECOMMEND?
The Mining Exchange, A Wyndham Grand Hotel & Spa
Right across the highway from the venue, a lovely upscale hotel with a ton of local charm, right in the heart of walkable downtown and all its amenities.
If you're looking for more of the classy mountain getaway experience, we highly recommend the Cliff House in Manitou Springs. Use this link for a significant discount (if you need to book different dates, email Kristin Eurich).
The Clarion Hotel
Right at the bottom of the hill where the conference will be held.
We will email you lots of other goodies a couple weeks before the event, helping you get the most out of your visit (food, craft beers, etc.). You can also use the Facebook event to coordinate meals with old friends or new ones on Friday night, Saturday during the conference, or Sunday.
WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?
You may cancel your registration for a full refund up to 30 days before the event. After that, we will handle cancellations on a case-by-case basis (most likely transferring your ticket to someone on the waiting list and refunding your money). We cannot accept cancellations within seven days of the event, but if you can't make it, we do appreciate you letting us know.
I'M NOT SURE I CAN AFFORD IT. ARE THERE SCHOLARSHIPS?
There is a scholarship fund for Anselm member artists, because we want them all to be able to attend. (Apply to be a member artist here.) Member artists may apply for a scholarship (full or partial) simply by requesting one from Brian Brown. Depending on funds, we may be able to offer scholarships to a limited number of others. If you wish to apply for a scholarship, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, reason for need, why you want to come, and requested amount. We will notify you in March if you have been selected for a scholarship.
